Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before visiting Rome with Pointours
Colosseum
Do I need to book Colosseum tickets in advance?
Yes — absolutely. The Colosseum sells out weeks in advance, especially from April to October. Walk-up tickets are often unavailable by mid-morning. We strongly recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks ahead, or booking a skip-the-line tour that includes guaranteed entry.
What is the best time to visit the Colosseum?
The best times are early morning (opening at 9:00 AM) or late afternoon (from 3:30 PM onwards). Midday is the most crowded and hottest. Our early-morning tours let you walk the Arena Floor before the main crowds arrive.
What is included in Arena Floor access?
Arena Floor access lets you walk on the actual floor of the Colosseum — the same level where gladiators fought. This requires a special ticket and is not included in standard Colosseum entry. All our Colosseum tours with Arena Floor access include this premium entry.
Is the Colosseum accessible for visitors with mobility limitations?
The Colosseum has lifts and accessible routes to most main areas. The Underground and upper tiers (Belvedere) involve stairs. Please contact us before booking if you have specific requirements and we'll tailor the experience accordingly.
Can I visit the Roman Forum with my Colosseum ticket?
Yes. All Pointours Colosseum tickets include access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill — they share a combined entry system. Plan 3–4 hours to explore all three sites comfortably.
Vatican Museums
How far in advance should I book Vatican tours?
The Vatican Museums receive up to 25,000 visitors per day and tickets regularly sell out. We recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance during peak season (March–October). Our skip-the-line tours include guaranteed entry so you'll never be turned away at the door.
What is the dress code for the Vatican?
The Vatican enforces a strict dress code: shoulders and knees must be covered. Sleeveless tops, shorts, and short skirts are not permitted. Scarves or shawls are sold outside if needed. This applies to all visitors regardless of tour type.
Is the Sistine Chapel included in Vatican tours?
Yes — the Sistine Chapel is accessible through the Vatican Museums and is included in all our Vatican tour tickets. Photography inside the Sistine Chapel is not permitted by Vatican rules.
Is St. Peter's Basilica included in Vatican Museum tickets?
No. St. Peter's Basilica has free entry and is a separate visit from the Vatican Museums. Most guests visit the Basilica after their Vatican Museums tour. Entry is subject to the same dress code and can involve queues in peak season.
How long does it take to visit the Vatican Museums?
A standard visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel takes 2–3 hours. Our guided tours are designed to take you through the highlights efficiently — the Gallery of Maps, Raphael Rooms, and Sistine Chapel — without rushing.
Booking & Payments
How do I book a tour with Pointours?
You can book directly through our tour pages on this website, or via GetYourGuide and Viator. Direct booking through our website gives you the most flexible options for private and group tours. You can also WhatsApp or email us for custom requests.
What is your cancellation policy?
Most tours can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Specific terms depend on the tour type — Arena Floor and private tours may have a 48-hour window. Full details are shown at checkout.
Do you offer private tours?
Yes. We specialise in private and small-group tours across all our experiences — Colosseum, Vatican, photography tours, and combo itineraries. Private tours are bookable directly and can be customised for your group size and interests.
Are children welcome on Pointours tours?
Absolutely. We welcome families with children of all ages. Our guides adapt their commentary to suit mixed groups, making Rome's history engaging for younger visitors. Children under 6 are free at the Colosseum; under 18 EU citizens may receive discounts.
On the Day
Where do tours meet?
Meeting points vary by tour and are provided in your booking confirmation. Colosseum tours typically meet at the Metro Colosseo exit or near the Colosseum kiosk. Vatican tours meet at Viale Giulio Cesare 229, in front of the cinema. Exact details are sent via WhatsApp before your tour.
What languages do Pointours guides speak?
Our guides conduct tours in English, Italian, French, and Spanish. Many tours are available in additional languages including German, Portuguese, and Chinese — see individual tour pages for language options.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable walking shoes — Rome's cobblestones can be challenging in heels. Bring water, sunscreen (especially in summer), and a scarf or shawl if visiting the Vatican. A light jacket is useful in winter or for underground tours.
Do you offer a WhatsApp support service?
Yes — all Pointours guests receive WhatsApp support before and during their experience. We'll send your meeting point, any last-minute updates, and are available if you get lost or have questions on the day.
Still have questions?
Our team is available 7 days a week via WhatsApp or email.
